How do I stop spacebar making dots between words?

Spacebar makes dots between words. No other Proofreading marks are present.

Go to Tools>Options>View, remove the check for Spaces.

If only spaces are showing as nonprinting characters, then CyberTaz's answer
is much more direct.

Sorry. A senior moment, I guess. For some reason I read this as changing the
grammar checking for spaces between sentences.
