You can use an EQ field to superimpose any two glyphs, such as an arrow and
a character.

Thank you Stefan Blom and Jezebel.

The field and option inserted either manually or by mouse clicks do appear
like in the instructions pointed out below, but the result in print preview
or on the printer is not as expected. The EQ field delimiters disappear, but
what is written in the bracket following the \O just stay like it is written.
So, it is not working as expected so far. Any ideas are appreciated?

Hard to tell from that description what you're doing wrong, EQ fields *do*
work. Read the overbar article again, perhaps.

On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Print tab. Make sure that
the "Field codes" option is cleared, and then click OK.
