How do I eliminate the paragraphy symbols in my documents?

I was pasting text into a Word doc when suddenly a paragraph symbol appeared
at every place where I had hit the enter/return key. I tried clicking on
Normal view but nothing I do gets rid of those symbols, and every Word doc I
have saved shows up like this. How do I eliminate these pesky symbols from
my docs?

Hi there,

You've probably accidentally pushed the pilcrow button (the paragraph mark).
If you un-click it, they will go away.
