I recently had to reinstall Windows XP Pro and Office 2003. Now, when in
Word, Excel, etc., I click on Tools, Options, File Locations and highlight
"templates" and click modify, I cannot see any files. Ever since I have been
using Word, which is about 10 years now, I have been able to see my template
files.
How can I recover the ability to see the template files for the Office suite
of programs?
Thanks,
Mike Butler

Hi Mike,

The default location for templates is
C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
You can find this in the Tools > Options > File Locations dialog in Word.

The reinstallation of Windows may have changed the <your name> part, so Word
is now looking in a different branch of Documents and Settings. If so, all
you need is to move the templates to the new location.

In Windows Explorer, you'll have to go to Tools > Folder Options > View and
turn on display of hidden folders and files, because the Application Data
folder is hidden.
