I have an intriguing issue. I save some .RTF files in word with the page setup
for landscape. When I open those documentes back using work, they show up in
landscape format. Now, when I open the same documents using Wordpad de documents
appear in portrait mode. Even if I change the orientation in Wordpad and save the
file again, next time I open them (in Wordpad) they will open in portrait mode.
Since I have a proprietary fax software that uses Wordpad to open the RTF
documents and fax them out, I have not been able to fax them in landscape form.
Does anybody know how make Wordpad recognize the orientation in which the pages
were saved.
Thanks.
J.C. Manhaes.
You probably can't solve this one.
WordPad and Word write different versions of RTF.
RTF is very changeable: Word 2000 writes RTF version 6 (I think...) while
WordPad reads/writes level 3 or 4. There are structural differences such
that you may get unexpected side-effects going between applications.
Just check to ensure that your Word and WordPad are set to use the same
printer, and that the printer properties are the same in both.
Sorry to be not much help.

Thank you for your insight. I didn't know that there were differences in RTF's
files created by different applications. However, I don't have actually to switch
applications. I was trying to do that in order to be able to open the files in
landscape mode. Let try to explain it quickly:
-Hundreds of RTF files are created with WordPad, viewed and saved in landscape
mode. However, next time I open any file with WordPad it opens in portrait mode.
Since I run an fax application that uses WordPad to open the documents and fax
them out, they go out in portrait mode. I was trying to convert them to .DOC
because after the convertion WordPad opens them nicely in landscape. So, if I
find a way to make WordPad retain the documents orientation, I would not have to
convert the files. Do you have any ideas about this?
Thank you and have a nice week end.
JC Manhaes.

.
No, sorry. I am not sure how to make WordPad store a page setup in RTF.
Sorry.

That's OK. I will rephrase my question and place it again. Maybe just there is not a
way to make WordPad retain the orientation in which a page has been saved.
Thank you for you time.
