You can use a shortcut to the template on your desktop or in the Start menu
to start Word. That is the simplest way.

rename the template Normal.dot then replace the current Normal.dot with your
template

Do _not_ do this! You will lose all the built-in AutoText in normal.dot and
will probably lose other functionality as well.

Normal.dot is not just another template, it is a part of the Word program.
