I am creating plain text documents in WordPad, but I do not see
a spellcheck function. Does it have one? And, if not, why not?

Hi KathyK

Wordpad does not have a spellchecker.

Why? Who knows. Maybe because a spellchecker is quite a complicated bit of
programming to do for what is effectively a simple text editor.

Do you have access to another word processing software than Wordpad? If not,
and you can't afford to buy MS Office try looking at Open Office. It is free
to download from http://www.openoffice.org/ It contains a full functioned
wordprocessor that can produce output in MS Word format (among others). It's
not as user friendly as Word, but what do you expect for a freebie? ;-)

Why not? Because WordPad is a freebee and Microsoft wants to make some money
from the features that come in Word.
