The top toolbar, the toolbar with: 'file, edit, view,' etc. is missing. How
do I get it back?

Thank you.

Maybe you accidentally clicked on its teeny weeny close box.

I tried that with all the toolbars and I couldn't find the right one.

The Menu Bar cannot be toggled, even in Customize.

I realized later that she was talking about the Menu Bar and not a
toolbar. But if it's the Menu Bar that's gone, how can she have
checked View > Toolbars?

Maybe she was in Reading View (or whatever it's called)? I hate that
and can never find how to get out of it if I accidentally click it
when trying for Outline View.

Alternatively, when I'm on line, F11 toggles the display of everything
above my tabs, so could this be a Windows thing?

She may have been referring to the list on the toolbars tab of Tools |
Customize. Luckily, there are half a dozen ways to get to the Customize
dialog. I have no idea what F11 might do, but the "missing menus" problem is
a common enough one (most prevalent in Word 2000).

That took care of it! Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the
time to answer.
