I want to create page numbers in the following way - is it possible?

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5-a, 5-b, 5-c, 5-d, 5-e, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 etc.

In other words break up the sequence with 5-a, 5-b and then return to the
numbering.

It can be done, but it will be difficult to maintain. Insert section breaks
after page 5 and before page 6. Assuming no other breaks, this will result
in Sections 1, 2, and 3. In Section 3, unlink the header/footer from the one
in the previous section and set the page numbering to start at 6 (Format
Page Number).

In Section 2, unlink the header/footer from the one in Section 1, set the
numbering to start at 1, and chose the a, b, c page number format. Then type
5- before the PAGE field.
