I have had problems with the number of undo's that are available in Word
2007. It seems most times, I can undo all actions in sequence, but
occasionally, for no apparent reason, I cannot undo everything. I have not
saved, run macros, or anything "fancy" and yet it seems the undo list stops.

Any suggestions? Thanks,

Ricki

Hi Ricki,

Can you provide more details? How long is he undo list between saves for example, or are there specific items that don't seem to
be listed? Are there any add-ins loaded in Word?

There is one scenario where undo acts oddly:

Hi Bob,

There does not seem to be any pattern - I worked in the program for an hour
or two and the undo list was all there and working well; then, it would not
be there and I would be forced to close the document without saving. I am
not running macros or doing any fancy editing, simply cutting, basic
formatting. There is an add-in but none of its functions was used during
the time I worked on the file. Could AutoRecover have any effect?

Thanks again,

Ricki

I have experienced the same phenomenon.

Now, this is just a thought...but if I had to guess - I would say check your settings for your autosave. Because I have noticed when I save my document and try to undo something - I can't...it resets the do's and undo's. I am thinking that perhaps the autosave feature does the same thing.

Hope this is your answer...thanks!
Shirley

Saving a Word document does NOT by default clear the Undo stack (this is not
true in some other applications, such as Publisher). It may be that you have
a FileSave macro running that does do this. Switching between
Protect/Unprotect on a form does clear the stack.
