How to add a symbol in the insert symbol menu/grid

I wanted to use "1/2" and "3/4" symbol in a recipe but only saw selected
fractions in the insert symbol box. Is there any way to add the symbols? I
see there are blank boxes in there so I assumed that you could but I do not
know how. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Did you try clicking on More Symbols? This opens the classic Symbol dialog.
The palette you see is just a sample and will ultimately represent the
"Recently used symbols" from the dialog.
