Any suggestions?
Thanks,
The advice rather depends on what you are trying to achieve. As far as the
mechanisms go, you have two options:
* Customize the File menu to remove Save As
* Write a macro call FileSaveAs that will actually save the document where
it is and/or advise the user that they can't Save As.
If what you want to do is help users avoid making a mistake in a particular
document or document type, then making either of these changes in the
document template would work. However, if you are trying to prevent abuse or
take more global control over user behaviour you won't succeed because any
knowledgeable user will be able to undo the changes, and if you prevent
their normal use of Word they will certainly want to!

This is all being done an extremely stripped down windows
2000 workstation. users only see a shortcut to files. I
do not want to allow the users the ability to use the save
as feature and change the location. We have very strict
permissions already set up and if they try to use the save
as to any location, they get an error due to permissions.
I just don't even want the users to have any ability to
click on save as.
You mentioned that I could, "Customize the File menu to
remove Save As." How do you Customize the File menu to
remove Save As?
Thanks,
Dean
