I get a lot of online pages from my insurance company and
bank that look like a spread sheet or table. But they are
protected from saving. Is there a utility that will
convert the page online to a Word or Xcel file? I tried a
converter prgm today that was supposed to convert from
html file to RTF file. It would do well for a text file
but it does not handle the tables.

Try:
Open the page in Internet Explorer.
Mark all you need (e.g. by dragging the mouse), then copy to clipboard
(press Ctrl+Ins or Ctrl+c), open Word (a new empty document) and paste
from clipboard (Shift+Ins or Ctrl+v).

Thanks for the reply. I have been doing the copy and paste
but as the pages are more and more sophisticated this is
not working much anymore. Word either hangs up or it says
too complex to handle. I have WIN98SE and WORD97. Even
pasting iinto FrontPage Xpress says too complex.

Thank You

I use Word 2000 and (yet) had no problems with copy and paste. Possibly
some table constructs are too complex for Word 97. If this is the case,
there is nothing you can do except

If your only aim is to save the page, what about:
(a) Try View - Source (this opens the html source in e.g. notepad) and
save this to another file. This will only save the html code, i.e.
without any pictures. If the html source is too large for notepad, get
another ascii editor, e.g. PFE http://www.simtel.net/pub/dl/11983.shtml
and set it as html editor in IE's internet options - programs.
(b) Try a different browser, e.g. Opera http://www.opera.com/ and try
File-Save.
(c) Try a website copier, e.g. httrack http://www.httrack.com/

Hope this helps

I have now tried to paste or open the saved file with MS
FrontPage Xpress but it has a hard time with the tables
too. My machine is just too old I guess. I will try Opera
before I give up.

Thanks

I found an OEM version of MS WORKS SUITE 2004 on AMAZON
for $25 and the WORD 2002 came with it. That does fix my
prblem with pasting from the WEB.
