I've tried to suss this out, to no avail.

I have a table where all the cells are bordered by a normal single
black line. The outside border of the whole table, however, is a
double line - just to make it stand out. In front of me on the screen
is that double line on the perimeter. Even when I do "print preview",
the double line on the perimeter is still there. Yet every time I
print, that double line comes out as a single line! I've tried it
several times, and tried bordering by each cell individually, as well
as by using the "grid".

Not the end of the world by any means, but it's starting to niggle me!
If there is something basic I'm doing wrong? Any help gratefully
received. (I'm using Word 97 by the way). Thanks!

This will doubtless be a printer driver problem.

Is this an HP LaserJet?

Thanks to the pair of you for your response. I'm not sure about the
printer driver explanantion, as someone today brought in a Word 97
file on a floppy which also had the double line border, and that file
printed ok - weird! Re the HP Laserjet question, it most certainy is!

IIRC, there are certain border widths in Word 2000 that are not supported in
Word 97. If the document was created in Word 2000, it's possible that a
double border would be changed to a different weight of double border in
Word 97, but I wouldn't expect it to be changed to a single one, and I
wouldn't expect Word 97 to display something different from what it was
going to print, not to mention that you haven't said anything to indicate
that the document wasn't created in Word 97, so I'm stumped, too. Still, you
might try changing the weight of the border to see if that makes a
difference.
