I'm getting an Invalid Page Fault error in module DEC2AB.DLL and Word
will not start on my machine (Win 98).

I recently installed Norton anti-virus. Word previously worked
perfectly.

Any help much appreciated.

Do you get the error if you try winword.exe /a?

Start + run and type in the open box winword.exe /a.

Hi Fred,

If you recently installed Norton then you should first rule out the Norton Office Plug-in option. This is notorious for causing conflicts with 3rd party add-ins.

Also, I access the newsgroups from the MS newsserver and it no longer carries microsoft.public.word.general so I'm unable to post this reply to that group. The word.general newsgroup was removed and divided into ~15 Word newsgroups several years ago. However it is still being "kept alive" out there! <g>
