No, just plain ol' multi-page Word document, although I have tried it with mail
merge docs.
This "s" is required now for mailmerge documents? Wasn't for Word 6.0, use to do
it all the time with values such as "2" , "2-5", "2,5,9" in multi-page mail
merge and printed just as I requested.

Does the page come print OK if you place the cursor in it and
then opt to print the current page? And if so, does this
document contain one or more section breaks?
If yes, you need to specify the section as well as the page
number (e.g. p2s1). This also applies to printing ranges
(p2s1-p4s2)

I think your right. On one document that I was trying, Print current worked but File|Print...|Pages: textbox with the following values worked according to table below
2 was No Go
p2 was No Go
p2s1 was No Go
p2s1-p2s2 was GO!
On the No Go's the cursor would switch to the animated printer
and litl' Einstein would do his "I'm printing thing" but watching the active
printer would show no job received, until the last test. Evidently each
page had 2 sections. The templet was originally created in Word6.0 and
entering 2 would suffice to print page 2, Word97 seems
to be a PITA! BTW, what is an easy way to ID the number of sections in
a page?

The page number and section number of the current cursor position
are shown in the status bar. So if you place the cursor on (a)
the first line and then (b) the last line of the page (or page
range) you want to print, the status bar will display the values
you need to enter to the Print dialog.
Or: go into Page Layout view and set the zoom level to 'Whole
Page'. Now click the Show/Hide [跑 button to display the section
breaks (along with other nonprinting stuff).
