hyperlinks in Word won't work

Does anyone know why my hyperlinks in a Word document
(2000) to the Internet won't work? They were working
yesterday. I emailed the document from my PC at the
office and worked on it at home on a MAC. Then, I emailed
it back to my PC as a Rich Text File. I'm connected to
the internet, my browser is working and the text still
appears as a hyperlink. However, the hyperlinks won't
work unless I first go into the browser and manually open
the web page. Then, that particular hyperlink works until
I shut down and restart the computer.
