Upon opening Microsoft Outlook and Word, I get the following AutoCorrect
file errors.
“Your AutoCorrect file, symbolsMSO1033.acl, could not be saved. The file
may be read-only, or you may not have permission to modify the file.”
I click the “OK” button and receive the following message.
“Your AutoCorrect file, FICE12\1033\MSO.ACLMSO1033.acl, could not be saved.
The file may be read-only, or you may not have permission to modify the file.”
I click the “OK” button.
If I close the Outlook or Word apps., I get the following message.
In Outlook…
“Outlook cannot save or create this file. Make sure the disk you want to
save this file on is not full, write-protected, or damaged.
(C:\PROGRA~1\...\NormalEmail.dotm)”
In Word…
“Outlook cannot save or create this file. Make sure the disk you want to
save this file on is not full, write-protected, or damaged.
(C:\PROGRA~1\...\Normal.dotm)”
I click “OK” and the SaveAs dialogue box comes up. I don’t know what or
where I should save anything. Any help on this? Is there an easy fix?
Have you tried running the Office Repair option to see if it can correct the
error by rewriting the registry entries?

As a trouble-shooting process, I was getting rid of programs that I no
longer wanted on my computer. During that process (removal of iTunes) I
received an Error 1606 message.
Checking MS for information, I stumbled upon the Mr. Fix It page...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549#FixItForMeAlways
and checked all the registry settings recommended for Vista.
I found one section that did not match the settings provided and made a
registry change as recommended - that fixed the errors I was getting in both
Outlook and Word.
Value name Type Value data
AppData REG_EXPAND_SZ %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming
My Value Data string did not match, so I changed it to match the values
above...I am cured.
Thanks
