I recently lost some work I was doing in Word. Fortunately my Autosave
feature was working. However, it generated an Autorecovery file in the
format .ASD. I have not been able to access it either through Word nor
directly from Windows Explorer. It does exist inside my folder
Windows/App. Data/Microsoft/Word.

Suggestions?

This file should be opened automatically the next time you start Word after
a crash. If you have tried to access it some other way, you may already have
made it impossible to recover.

Thanx, I do not understand how that works, but apparently copying the
file converted the format to a Word doc. How does this happen?
