In attempting to copy multiple paragraphs from a table in one document
to another document by using the 'spike/unspike'
(Ctrl-F3/Shift-Ctrl-F3) feature this kills Word.
First attempt killed Word when spikeing the second cell content when I
included also the asterisk indicating end-of-cell in the first table
cell.

Excluding the asterisk enabled me to spike what I wanted but in the
unspike phase then Word gets killed; 'This application is not
responing' the Task Manager says.

The problem is repetable.

Any ideas, someone??

Hi Thomas,

Although a Spike is stored as AutoText I don't believe you can include
table cells since it's intended to be used for text. If you include the
"end of cell mark" then Word treats the selection as a cell.

I believe the problem is that an invalid temp file was created when you
tried this. Clear your Temp files and see if the problem is resolved. Also,
you might want to take a look under Tools/AutoText/AutoText and make sure
the Spike entry is removed.

As an aside if you like to use the Spike, do you know about the additional
macros available on Macros8.dot? It includes commands (and toolbar) such as
Copy to Spike, Clear Spike, Preview Spike. The regular Add to Spike command
(Cut) isn't included on the toolbar but can be easily added to make a
complete "set" of Spike tools. Also note that you may need to turn on the
"Multiselect (Spike) Toolbar on to make it available.

Macros8.dot can be downloaded from:
