Dave,

I don't see a major problem in what you're trying to accomplish (we do just
that continously).

UnZipit! is a Macintosh program that automatically decompress PC "zipped"
files.
OR
Stuffit Deluxe for Windows NT works like a charm. If you want to script it, use
FrontierLand.

I'm going through a "Forward Migration:" dumping NTWS's for iMacs. ;-)
