Help with programs listed in start menu

I'll try and be as clear as I can. Where are the program links etc that are
displayed when you click the start button gotten from? The ones displayed a
bove the 'programs' menu item. I moved my 'start->programs' folder somewher
e else, not in Documents & Settings and now I get ALL the contents of my pro
grams folder listed above the programs item in big icons. Its really annoyi
ng. When I go to remove them, it of course actually removes them physically
not just the links. I know this may be hadr to follow but I want to know wh
ere the start menu button gets its display contents from, anyone know ?
