Home config: Windows 98 SE, Linksys router, Black Ice
firewall, cable connection

Work config - Windows 2000, Microsoft VPN

Use dial up networking to connect to VPN server.
Connection established.
Use Remote Desktop Connection now and receive 'The
specified remote computer could not be found.' message on
attempts to connect to computer name. Try desktop's IP
address instead and get 'The client could not connect to
the remote computer'.
Can't see anything in Network Neighbourhood after
connection established either.

BUT, if dial up step bypased, I can Remote Desktop into
the server, by entering the server's IP address. However,
this is not desirable.

Have spoken with Black Ice regarding ports to open and
have also forwarded them in Linksys.

Any suggestions on what's missing?

Thanks
Karen

Can you ping the server with the IP address? Are you behind any firewall?
