rdPDD.dll failed to load?

Hi,
I'm trying to connect to an XP machine but it fails silently on the client.
On the remote machine I get an event log entry:

Application popup: : \SystemRoot\System32\RDPDD.dll failed to load

I've tried a SFC /SCANNOW . No joy :-(
It used to work, and there is no firewall between them.

assuming you have an nvidia series graphics adapter version 177.79 beta appears to solve it.

Do you happen to know which component causes the problem? I have a GeForce
7600GT on the pc that I cannot connect remotely. I have this problem since I
had to reinstall that PC due to a motherboard malfunction. I am now running
the latest whql driver 175.19, unfortunately the 177.79 beta does not support
my hardware :(

Someone posted a workaround in nvidia's nZone forum that fixed this problem
for me without upgrading the GeForce 175.19 driver:

After adding that registry value, I rebooted the pc and the remote desktop
started working again! :-)

Okay I had the same problem and now I've figured it out. If you have an ATI
Radeon video card and are not using the latest video driver out there, you
will not be able to use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to the system
with the ATI. Apparently there was a bug fix that came out and disallowed
any Terminal Servcies connection to take place. A simple fix my Higher Ed
institution's I.T. department (me) had was to go into Display Properties,
Settings, Advanced, and in Troubleshoot, drag the Hardware Acceleration
slider to None. This is allow you to remote in. Otherwise update your video
driver to the latest one. I must have spent hours trying to figure this one
out today and even thought it was because Service Pack 3 wasn't on here.
Nope. Well, at least Windows XP is fully updated now!

There may be other video cards out there with similar issues. Our campus
Dells are all with the same card so we just had to include it in our weekend
Sunday night updates. Anyway, thanks for reminding me. When I saw this
thread I hit myself on the head.

So I found this website which pointed the problem to the ATI driver.

YEs my first attempt was to lower the hardware acceleration down to NONE. and it did work. But I wanted the concrete solution so I downloaded the driver from the ATI Website. TO NOTE: The driver on the DELL Support website had problem installing so I went to the source.

Also to note: ATI has a different name for this card: It is called a catalyst.

RIGHT CLICK THE SCREEN>PROPERTIES
>SETTINGS
>ADVANCED
>TROUBLESHOOT
>HARDWARE ACCELERATION
..BY DEFAULT IT IS SET TO FULL
.....PUT the lever ON NONE

COMPUTER MODEL:
DELL OPTIPLEX 330
