For those of you whom have the AV/C Subunit problem! there is a FIX.
I am not claiming fame for doing it(grin) I just got the FACTS together
To make sure one got it right! I use a SONY TR 310 ..AUDIGY/EX is the 1394
source on a ABIT AT7-MAX-2 ATHLONXP 2000 512meg DDR 333 memory
ASUS Geforce 3 Deluxe 64meg V8200...I'll have a DVD-r/w by monday(grin)
a Sony.
Problem:
After installing 1394 card and plugging in Camcorder and putting it in VCR
mode to install driver, you get a box asking you to install a file called
"AV/C Subunit" problem is there is no file with that name!
CURE : you cannot use an old copy of MSDV.exe, if you did! more on that
later. It seems that XP for some reason beond us put a 1 on the end of the
file effectivly killing it. "msdv.inf.1" removing the "1" will usualy fix
it,the file next to it with the PNF.1 may fix it self when the main one is
fixed, check it by rebooting and going back for a look see,if it is OK!
fireup the Camcorder make sure though you REMOVE the offending AV/c copy in
the Device Manager with the yellow ! or ? before you try!
you don,t know Where Device Manager is!Ok! look in CONTROL PANEL all the way
to the bottom where you will find SYSTEM click it and a box will come up
,look in the middle on the right for Device Manager!
For those who tried to fix it with an old copy! pop in the old XP pro CD or
the home one! you do need Winrah or maybe zip will work as you will need to
extract a file from I386,guess what the file name is? "msdv.ex_" note the _
on the end! This means it is in MS's Compressed format
use explore to get into the I386 area then use SEARCH to find msdv.ex_
once you find it you copy it to a free location uncompress it and then copy
it into the INF folder, once in there there is one More things you MUST
do!Replace the _ with an "e" Right click on it!Ok..see install in the box?
CLICK it!reboot
check it,and make sure you have removed the AV/C file in Device manager and
the Camcorder is OFF..
You should be back in action,Happy New year to you all,Happy filming
Cheers Dennis
