After setting it up, I was planning to install software that needs
the .NET Framework in order to run. So I went to Windows Update to get
not only the major updates since SP3's release, but also the .NET
Framework.
I did not see the .NET Framework offered for download, and while I can
download it manually, I'd like to know if XP SP3 includes some or all
of the .NET Framework. And if so, what version/service pack level is
included?

Thanks for the info. I was curious because I saw a "netfx.cab" bundled
with SP3 after it had extracted all the files. After rebooting, I
noticed that no version of the .NET Framework was made available for
download from Windows Update. My first thought was that some version
of the .NET Framework was included, but after a second look that is
definitely not true.
Installing the .NET Framework 3.5 from the Microsoft web site worked
perfectly.
