I follow the steps outlined in the Help & Support
sections on "Folder Redirection", "To redirect special
folders to a specific path", and "To edit the local Group
Policy object".
My problem comes when I try to edit the Group Policy.
I open the Group Policy with gpedit.msc, expand the User
Configuration, expand Window Settings.
Folder Redirection should be there to select, it's not.
How do I get to Folder Rediredtion if it is not where it
is supposed to be???
-dazed and confused
The "Documents and Settings" root folder is placed during XP setup, with an
unattend or 'answer'file.
ProfilesDir
Value: path_to_profile_folder
Default: "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings"
Specifies the location of Windows XP or Whistler Server profiles, which is useful if you require new installations to use the same profile folder as Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000. This entry is valid only on clean installations of Windows XP or Whistler Server family of products and is ignored during upgrades.
The directory specified can contain an environment variable such as %systemdrive% or %systemroot%. Enclose path_to_profile_folder if it is a long file name or if it contains an environment variable. For example:
ProfilesDir = "%systemroot%\Profiles"

--help about folder redirection--
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy
Description
Determines when folder redirection policies are updated.
This policy affects all policies that use the folder redirection component of Group Policy, such as those in WindowsSettings\Folder Redirection. You can only set folder redirection policy for Group Policy objects stored in Active Directory, not for Group Policy objects on the local computer.
