cannot copy I386\MFC42 DLL

when I try to install XP upgrade on my 98 I get the
message, Setup cannot copy E:\I386\MFC42 DLL to
C:\windows\setup\MFC42.DLL.
Can someone please help me.

I suggest you copy a flat of i386 folder from winxp upgrade disk on to the
hard drive
Run setup from safe mode.
