Attempting to pass online security test at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/mpsa/start.asp with XP Home fails. Unable
to lengthen password requirements, enable login/logoff auditing, etc. as
directed - because LSP does not exist in XP Home Edition apparently. I
copied some of the files/registry settings from XP Pro over and it runs but
it comes up blank except "Group Policy" which has a red X over it (no error
now though). Is there any way I can make these simple admin style changes
to XP Home without losing my mind? <g>

Thanks!

Local Security Policy is part of the Security Configuration Manager set of
tools. As noted, these tools (Local Security Policy, Security Template
Snapin, Security Configuration and Analysis Snap-in and Secedit.exe command
line tool) do not exist on home edition.

WRT to minpassword length as well as several other password parameters, you
can use the Net Accounts command. For details on the syntax, type
net accounts /help

WRT logon\logoff auditing, this is enabled by default on Windows XP Home
(precisely because there is no way to enable it out of the box). You should
be able to see the logon\logoff audits by running eventvwr. There are
likely third party or reskit tools for enabling audit policy.
