Strange square in corner of screen - but virus scan finds nothing

I've run Spybot and Defender and AVG and they find nothing.
I've tried killing tasks and processes, but still this tiny square
remains, and it bothers me!

I've seen other people asking, but never get an answer - I thought that
by posting a screen shot, it might make it easier to identify. Thanks!

if it upper left corner a white dot/square and you use an ATI video card.
it is a problem with 8.1 ati drivers.
exiting the ati control panel from the tray will remove it temporarily till you reboot.
to permanently, use the ati control panel options to prevent it running with windows start.

Have you recently updated your video driver? If so try rolling it back to
the earlier version.

u r welcome, its a problem that started with the 8.1 drivers, ati says to be addressed in next release.
