I惴 looking for a better driver for the "old" EPSON Stylus Photo.
The "original" Microsoft driver is not as good as I know from Windows 98se.
I heard that愀 possible to use an EPSON-driver for an other model.
What model shall I use.

Thanks for aswer !

Kind regards

Tom

This is Epson's statement on the subject as found on
http://support.epson.com/webadvice/wa0303.html

Question: Should I use Epson's drivers or the drivers provided from
Microsoft with the Windows XP software?

Answer: If you use the Epson Windows 2000 or Windows 2000/XP drivers
from the Epson Support web site you will receive all functions and
features the printer offer. If you use the Microsoft Windows XP
built-in driver, you will be able to print but you will not be able to
use the following functions:

a.. Ability to check your ink levels

a.. Ability to print at 2880dpi (if your printer supports that
resolution)

a.. Advanced Color Management features

a.. Advanced Page Layout features like watermarks, multi-page support,
or doublesided printing (if your printer supports this feature)

If these features are important to you or your printer isn't
automatically supported by Windows XP please download the latest
Windows 2000 or Windows 2000/XP Driver from the Epson support website.

So, do check Epson's web site for appropriate drivers for you printer.

Thomas,

There isn't such an animal, and never will be. Why? It's simple, really.
That printer was first released when 3.1 was the OS of choice, and Epson has
to draw the line somewhere. The only drivers for the original Photo are
those included with XP. If those don't work to your liking, you have no
other option but to buy an XP-compatible printer.

Depends on which model you are talking about

If it is one of the following, I can send you a Win XP driver

EPSON STYLUS PHOTO 790
EPSON STYLUS PHOTO 810
EPSON STYLUS PHOTO 870
EPSON STYLUS PHOTO 1270
EPSON STYLUS PHOTO 2000P

If it isn't in that list, I have some legacy drivers that will also work.

Post back with your model number and don't believe all you read from some
less informed users.

I have the same 'old' printer. I tried the win2K driver for the Photo EX from the Epson driver web site. The EX printer also uses the same five ink color cartridge. The driver works great in windows XP (I do not use the ink monitor program). Even though the original photo is a 720 dpi printer, use the 1440 setting on the EX driver. I would have just pitched the printer, but I still have quite an investment in ink that I got on a special deal awhile ago.
