I accidently unchecked the fax box on the add/remove
component screen. Since then I've been unable to access
the fxsapi.dll to reinstall the program. The wizard
keeps telling me to use the Windows XP CD rom. I don't
have one it came pre installed on the computer. I can
see fxsapi.dll in the c:/windows/i386 but it will not
open in the window nor will it open from the restore CD
from my computer manufacturer. Does any one have any
suggestions? I spent 30 minute online with the VPRMatrix
support tech and he couldn't figure it out.
Thanks

Other users have reported difficulties with the install routine that seem to
arise from the installation files still being compressed and therefore not
recognized by the installation routine. The following seems to work:

If you do a search for the files that the Microsoft components install
wizard says are missing - fxsapi.dll and fxcfgwz.dll - you won't find them,
but you will find fxsapi.dl_ and fxcfgwz.dl_. These are apparently
compressed DLL files. Try looking for all the files starting with fx with a
.dl_ extension in the folder i386 and double click on them. You will get a
prompt for which file to use to open them. Click on BROWSE and select Win32
Cabinet Self-Extractor which is in the system folder. With any luck it will
uncompress them all and make them visible as .dll files.

The install wizard still may not find these files. If so, then you must
manually direct the installation routine to the I 386 folder that contains
these now extracted files.
