My problem is concerning the My Pictures Folder. Up until today, whenever I
open My Pictures, on the left side of the window there has always been a
vertical blue strip containing the headings Picture Tasks, File and Folder
Tasks, Other Places and Details.

For some unknown reason, the blue strip and all 4 of the headings and
included tasks have disappeared. The only thing that remains is menu bar,
task bar and the section containing all my photos.

How do I restore the My Pictures Folder so that my tasks are visible on the
left side of the window?

Thanks for your help,
BEK

Try running this from Start | Run | Type > regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

Thanks for your help Paul but but I ran your suggestion and nothing
happened. Is my problem a common one or something fairly unusual? Any
other ideas?

Try to refresh the display. Look at the top bar. There is a yellow folder
icon with the word Folders next to it.
Click on it. This will change the view from Tasks to Folders.Click on it
again to change the view back to Tasks. I really don't know if this will
work but simple to try.

If the above does not work, click on View on the top bar and then on Refresh
on the opening menu.

No, I already tried that. When I click on the Folders icon I get the Folder
view on the left of my screen, but when I click again the folder "tree" goes
away but my Tasks don't come back. Thanks for your help...any other
suggestions?

Try checking Folder Options> General to see if "Show common tasks in
folders" is still enabled.

I think your suggestion should work. I just tried changing it and then
enabling. No problem. Let's see if it works for BEK.
