Is there any way to improve speed when connected to the
internet? I am connected with a router through a cable
modem. Service I have is 4mbps. When I do an internet
speed test it shows only about 1.5 mbps.

There are millions of reasons that you could see the
results you mention (not the least of which is that java
speed tests can be inaccurate).

http://www.dslreports.com is a good resource for these
types of problems.

Randy, David is right. It is posible that the site you
are using to test your speed is not for connections of
your speed. I can test at a site set up for WIFI
connections and max it out at 1.5. I can then test at DSL
Reports and am at 4Mbs. If I use a site close to me to
lower the overhead I am over 5Mbs. DSL Reports will
recommend changes you can make and also provide a free
utility for changing settings in your registry to best
suit your connections.
