Hello,

I assume you installed the new ATI Catalyst. It's a common error and you have to use an older version of the software.
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=216029
This says you should uninstall 7.2 (or what you've got) and (re)install 7.1 (best if done by the Add/Remove Programs menu of the Control Panel or by the Start menu entry of the Catalyst).

Please report if it worked.

Greetings,

Yes i installed the catalyst. Did a restore, went back to driver website and
installed display driver instead of catalyst (hope thats what u meant),
anyway it works a treat, and doesn,t apparently need .net framework 2.0 (at
least i,m not getting a message telling me i need it). I,m good to go....many
thankx

I had this error when I installed a new O/S Windows XP Pro. I had an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. The fix is to unintall ATI Catlyst and imediately reinstall it. I also had to install latest MS .net framework. This worked for me, it may work for you.
