Laptop:Computer shuts down-Moniter stays on

I have a Toshiba Laptop using Microsoft XP pro. The computer will shut down
and start using restart. The computer will shut down but the moniter stays on
when the computer is shutting down. I can push the off button after the
computer shuts down to turn the moniter off, but it does not go off by
itself. I would like the computer to shut completly when I am shutting down
the computer.

Are you talking about an external monitor, or the screen on the laptop?
The laptop has no way of controlling an external monitor, but the laptop
screen should shut down normally.
