System Idle process

I'm having trouble with my pc, the cpu is forever running
at 99%, looking at task manager it is "system Idle
Process2 which is causing this. This has only been after
i have installed all the latest updates!! Can anyone
help???

"Well, that's quite normal. This is a HLT command that Windows 2000 or
Windows XP will send when the system is at idle. This feature is basically
the same thing that occurs when you use CPUIdle (CPU Cooling Software). This
process is activated when the system is at idle to keep the processor at
cooler temperatures. You will see that the number drops when you begin to
use the system. This does not take away your processor power. As you can see
in the picture below, although the System Idle Process is showing a number
of 99, but the actual CPU Usage is at 1%."

Hi, Dean.

That's good! It means that 99% of the time, your computer is just sitting
there idling, like your car at a stop light, ready to spring into action as
soon as you hit the gas. Idling doesn't mean there's anything wrong with
your car - or your computer. And I'll bet it started long before you
installed those updates.
