I can´t send or receive e-mail. I had one ISP which worked
perfectly on the web but would not work on e-mail, it kept
asking me to enter my user name and password and, when I
did, it asked again ad infinitum. I established a
connection with another ISP and I am certain that I
entered everything correctly, including the DNS primary
and secondary numbers but the same thing is happening. Can
anyone help please? I´ve put my e-mail address but I will
be unable to receive any replies that way.

If your ISP allows access to web pages, then there is no reason for being
unable to send or receive e-mail other than you have not yet set up an
e-mail account, or you have entered information incorrectly at the time of
setting up the aforermentioned account..

Open up Outlook Express, click on TOOLS - ACCOUNTS and then click on the
MAIL tab.. now highlight the mail account that you originally set up for
yourself, then properties and ensure that all information is correct.. pop3,
smtp and news servers, user name and password

When setting up and using an e-mail account, it is imperative that all
information is entered correctly.. contact your ISP for the information
required to set up your mail account, and make a note of your user name and
password.. type it out and print it.. it will be clearer that way..

Thanks for your reply Mike, I agree with all you say and
would give the same advice myself, but it doesn´t work.

I have set up and re set up the mail servers time after
time and I know they are correct. What is happening is
that the mailserver is not recognising the password. In
Windows 98 the problem would be a corrupted password file
and easy to correct but I don´t know how XP deals with
passwords.
