Desperately need help setting up a home network between computers so I
can share files between them. I've tried the wizard for setting up a
home network but it doesn't seem to work. Here's my situation:
I have a Netgear MR314 4-port wireless router. To that, I have a
desktop running Windows XP Home connected via a wired Ethernet
connection. I then have another desktop running Windows XP Home that
has a Linksys USB 802.11b adapter for connecting wirelessly to the
router. Finally, I have a laptop running Windows XP Pro that has an
802.11b PC card for connecting wirelessly to the same router.
What I'd like is to be able to set these three machines up on a home
network so I can share files between them. I'd appreciate _very
specific_ directions on how best to do this, since my efforts thus far
have failed. This includes both how to set up the network and then
how to share the files. If there's already a write-up for how to do
this somewhere on the net, a simple pointer would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!

Run Windows XP's Network Setup Wizard on each computer to configure it
for file sharing. Tell it that the computer connects to the Internet
through a residential gateway. Details here:

Make sure that the router's DHCP server is enabled so that it can
assign an IP address to each computer.
Disable XP's Internet Connection Firewall. If you don't, it will
completely block file sharing. Details here:

Disable encryption on the router, and don't enable it until everything
else is working.
Before you attempt file sharing, make sure that each computer receives
an IP address and can ping each other computer. You'll find details
in this web site:
