It's built in dummy. Why have someone run around looking for a fix when
it's built in with IIS
Because IIS is a rather minimal FTP server. It doesn't offer:
* SSL / TLS encryption and authentication
* Separate user database option (i.e. don't use Windows usernames and
passwords)
* Multiple server support (while IIS can listen on multiple addresses, each
one uses the same user database, so is essentially the same server)
etc,etc.
Now obviously, I can't say if the other server suggested offers any of those
features, but those are some of the reasons that our customers choose WFTPD
Pro over IIS, even though IIS came "free" (it's rather like those "free gifts"
at the department store, how free is it when you have to pay a couple of
hundred dollars to get it?)
Much like Notepad isn't intended to be a fully-featured word processor, IIS
isn't intended to be a fully-featured FTP server. It may work for some tasks,
but if you're going to get serious about FTP support, there are third-party
options that offer more variety, more security, more power and more control.
Alun.
