The Help and Support cenetr give me the following
instructions to disable XP Firewall;
Disable Internet Connection Firewall
In Control Panel, double-click Networking and Internet
Connections, and then click Network Connections.
Right-click the connection on which you would like to
disable ICF, and then click Properties.
On the Advanced tab, click the box to clear the option to
Protect my computer or network.

however, when I get to Properties I do not find an
Advanced tab. I only have a "General"
and "Authentication" tab, thus unable to disable.

You must be logged in to an account that has Administrator access.

Is there a Network Bridge shown under Network Connections? I got one by
accident and this changes/removes some tabs. Not sure why or how I got this.
Possibly by choosing the wrong buttons when running the Network Wizard.

I have just installed a router and xp on my hp computer. I
have two other computers using ME connected through a
router. We can acess each others files and the other two
computers have internet access, but my computer does not
access the internet. I have changed ports, but still no
luck.I am sure i removed all firewalls. Any suggestions?
All three computers worked fine when I had ME on all
computers and a hub, so I don't think it is a hardware
problem. Help, asap. thanks

Start, all programs, accessories, communication, Network Setup Wizard.

Choose: "My computer connects to the Internet via another computer or a
Residential Gateway device...." or some similar wording--I saw this only
yesterday, but it is so catchy its gone already! This should remove the
firewall and configure the machine to get IP configuration from the router.

When you mention "removed all firewalls"--triple check this--use
manufacturers instructions for this removal--don't just disable them.
