Network settings altered after connecting to outside wireless netw

I am having a real problem with my network. I cannot get my computers to
access each other's shared folders/files via my network.

I used to be able to do this with no problem until I brought my laptop to my
college and connected to their

wireless network. Upon returning home and trying to get my laptop to get a
file off my desktop I got this

message when I clicked on my desktop network icon: "__________ is not
accessible. You might not have

permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this
server to find out if you have access

permissions. The network path was not found."

I never had a problem using my sygate firewall with my network and accessing
folders on my other machines but I disabled both firewalls to see if that was
the problem.The same message appeared.

My computers can sometimes see the other machines on the network but cannot
access them.

I did a system restore on my laptop to a few days earlier and that solved
the problem. Everything was fine and

I could access my shared folders without a hitch!

But then I went to my college again and connected to their wireless network
and upon returning home I had

the same problem! So something about that schools internet connection is
screwing up my network settings!

On their website the school computer lab FAQ states: "Please do not bring
your own wireless routers. They

interfere with our network and we will have to disable them."

So my question is how do I get my laptop to have the correct settings so
that I can get my network to run

smoothly again? I've go through both computers several times and re-setup my
network connections to match

and I even tired pinging them but they can only ping themselves and other
websites. They see each other on

the network but cannot access their shared folders.

Does anyone hear know what to do? I don't want to do a system restore again
on my laptop as that would create tons of new work seeing how I've installed
many programs since the first restore. Help!

http://winhlp.com/ has the solution. I suspect the NetBIOS node
type being changed by the maladjusted DHCP server of the other
network, but it could be something else as well.

You were right! It was a wrong node type! Once I deleted the registry
entry for that problem it fixed itself with a reboot! Now I can access my
shared folders again! That site did the trick! Thanks for your help! Take
