I'm having problems trying to get internet connection
sharing to work with Windows 98 and Windows XP home
edition.

ICS is installed and the profiles have the same connection
and password settings.

Windows 98 is a PC and Windows XP is on a laptop
The problem is when the pc is connected to the internet
and then I want to connect the laptop to the internet as
well the laptop aassumes that it has to dial an ISP rather
than just connect.

Anyone got any ideas.

Check the settings in Internet Explorer on the Laptop and select the
CONNECTIONS tab and make sure you do not have a Dial-Up configuration in
there. If so remove it, or select the option that best suits your needs. I
usually select the Never Dial option. ( I have a dialup configured as a
backup if my wireless broadband goes down)

XP Home can't use ICS, it doesn't have this feature built in. You will need
XP Pro

This is not correct. XP Home has the same ICS capabilities as XP Pro.

What's more, "lan glynn" is asking about using XP Home as an ICS
client. Any computer with a TCP/IP protocol can be an ICS client,
even ones like Windows 95, Macintosh, Unix, etc, which can't be an ICS
host.
