I regularly use remote desktop to connect to my Windows XP workstation
from elsewhere in the building, from remote offices, and from home over VPN.

Mostly, this works flawlessly, I log on and see my screen as I left it.
However once in a while, and with no pattern I've been able to discern,
when logging on (both via RDP and at the machine), it will log on anew,
leaving my running apps and unsaved work lost in the ether.
Any idea what causes this to happen?
