winXP and Internet/networking trouble

Ok here’s the deal, I would like to connect my laptop to
my network at work. The laptop is running XP home ed. and
the network is a win2000 server with a domain behind a pix
firewall. 200 to 300 computers are on the network, most
running win 95, and a few running win 2000 pro. Reading
through the newsgroup I know that the home ed. will not
connect to the domain. However I have got it (winXP) to
see the server and the other computers in our network
(File and print sharing). No matter what I seam to do I
cannot get the winXP comp to browse the web, or onto the
Internet at all. The firewall is turned off.
