mp3 not recognized by my laptop

my hp zv5000 laptop with windows xp home will not recognize my sony mp3 walkman what can i do?.It keeps coming up with MTP not walkman like it used to. I've uninstalled the walkman and reinstalled it. unhooked it and rehooked it back up.
