Wandering Album Art

solidarity. The 2nd problem is very common and I haven't
seen any answer for it. Old Dvorak mentioned something
about it too. To reiterate for any MS techies reading
this, album art randomly assigns itself to folders all
over the hard drive(s).
I too have a great many music folders. All of my music is
on one drive, each artist has their own folder, with
albums as separate subdirectories beneath. Every album
folder has the artwork assigned. Artists with multiple
albums just use the default (4 pics on each folder thumb),
artists with a single album get a big artist pic. I save
all artwork in the appropriate album or artist folder.
However, if any other folder anywhere on any other drive
is in thumbnail view, most likely it will have some random
piece of album art shown either full or corner view. Since
I do graphic art, I do the My Pictures folders this way
too and some of that floats around as well.
I do not have the "corruption" part, where an assigned
folder "forgets" what it is. I found that that happens if
I move a folder from one directory to another. For
instance, I had all of my music filed by genre at one
point, but it became too cumbersome, so I put it all under
one master directory. Afterwards, I realized it reset all
of my artwork assignments.
However, that can be viewed as a bug too. If you move a
folder, it loses most/all customizations (not just the
artwork assigned).
