I keep running into this problem and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

In the Windows XP start menu, I can no longer right-click to "explore"
submenu items. I can explore the All Programs menu level but no further. I
can still delete or copy and paste items from within the start menu, but I
cannot explore sub-folders. I have encountered this problem on a number of
installations and I am sure it is something that I am doing to cause this to
happen but for the life of me I cannot figure out what, which is why I have
resorted to posting in this newsgroup.

Hopefully some kindly soul out there can help guide me.

Thanks

Michael J. Dub

just a suggestion but have you tried to reconfigure your
mouse settings. or even check the start menu properties.

Hi...
Right click your Start button - Properties -
Customize (button) - Advanced (tab) - check
Open submenus when I pause on them with my mouse
(Under Start menu items checkmark):
Enable dragging and dropping
My Computer - Display as a menu
My Documents - Display as a menu
My Music - Display as a menu
My Pictures - Display as a menu
Click Ok...Apply...Ok
After that, if you could tell us the exact procedures
you are using...so that we can try to unravel or
replicate what's happening to you.

Hi Rick,

I'm having the same problem as what Michael is facing. I follow your
suggestion, and the problem still exist.

What I did is as follow:
Click the Start button->Click All Programs'->right click on
Games->select either explore or open->nothing happen.

Please advice, Rick. Thank you.

Best Regards,

You'll also find shell instance folders won't act as menus on the control pane.
