To All:

I have a Kodak DC280 Zoom digital camera. When I bought a new Dell with
Windows XP Home, I installed the software for the camera that came with it.
Of course, then I found out that the Windows 98 drivers were not compatible
with XP, so I uninstalled them. Now, when I try and connect to the camera
via USB, I get an error message under device manager that says a previous
version of the driver is still in memory, to delete the driver and reboot.
Of course, that doesn't work.

Kodak tech support has been less than helpful. They suggested I re-install
XP to fix any corrupted files, but that didn't work. I deleted any
DC240/280 drivers I could find, but the problem keep occurring. I know
there is something around that I need to remove, either a file or registry
setting, to reset this problem, but of course Kodak doesn't know what it is.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Did you try the restore to go back to before you loaded the drivers for the
camera...
Also did you look in the Devise Manager to see if the driver is listed and
try the retore old driver option...

Matthew,
I've got exactly the same problem with the DC240. Kodak recommend
downloading their new XP software and drivers for our cameras but when
you get to the download (having followed the link) the list does not
include our cameras at all. I'm gonna go with the idea of buying a
separate card reader if we can't find a solution. At least it's not
the cost of a whole new camera.

Hope we find a solution. Paul Woodgate.

Did you try downloading and installing the Win2000 USB driver from Kodak's
site?

I have the DC240. Out of the box XP supports my camera (didn't need to
install drivers or software). I think the DC280 should be the same but since
XP is screwed up because of the Win98 driver install you might wanna try
installing the Win2000 USB driver to fix the problem.

Yeah, I tried the Win2000 USB driver and keep getting the same problem. I
didn't use the roll-back feature as I have installed a bunch of other stuff
in the meantime and didn't want to screw up more than one thing - it didn't
let me roll-back the driver.

I know there must be a way to delete all of the inf and dll files related to
the 240/280 install, and remove all the registry references as well to fix
it. I just don't know what they are...
