Shripad Shri Vallabh Charitramrut: The Divine Biography of the First Incarnation of Lord Dattatreya

Shripad Shri Vallabh Charitramrut is a sacred book that narrates the life and teachings of Shripad Shri Vallabh, who is considered to be the first incarnation of Lord Dattatreya in the Kali Yuga. Lord Dattatreya is the supreme guru of all spiritual paths and the embodiment of the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. He incarnated as Shripad Shri Vallabh in the year 1320 AD in Pithapuram, a holy town in Andhra Pradesh, India. He was born to a pious couple named Appalaraju and Sumati, who belonged to the Bharadwaja gotra. He had two brothers named Sridhar Raj Sharma and Ramaraj Sharma, and three sisters named Shrividyadhari, Radha and Sureshka. His maternal grandparents were Brahmarshi Malladi Bapanarya Vadhanaulu and Akhanda Lakshmi Soumyavati Rajamamba.



Shripad Shri Vallabh Charitramrut was originally composed in Sanskrit by Shankar Bhatt, a Smartha Brahmin from Karnataka, who was blessed by Shripad Shri Vallabh himself. Later, it was translated into Telugu by his descendants. The original Telugu manuscript is still available and preserved by the devotees. The book contains 53 chapters that describe the miraculous deeds and divine teachings of Shripad Shri Vallabh. It also reveals the secrets of Dattatreya worship and the benefits of reading and listening to his biography.

The Glorious Life and Teachings of Shripad Shri Vallabh

Shripad Shri Vallabh was a divine child who exhibited extraordinary signs of spiritual greatness from his birth. He was born with the sacred mark of a conch and discus on his palms and feet, indicating his identity as Lord Vishnu. He also had the mark of a trident on his forehead, signifying his connection with Lord Shiva. He was endowed with all the auspicious qualities and virtues of a perfect being. He was intelligent, handsome, eloquent, compassionate, humble, fearless, generous and devoted.



Shripad Shri Vallabh started his education at the age of five under the guidance of his father, who was a learned scholar and a devotee of Lord Dattatreya. He mastered the four Vedas, the six Vedangas, the eighteen Puranas, the six Darshanas and other branches of knowledge in a short span of time. He also acquired proficiency in various languages such as Sanskrit, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Marathi. He amazed everyone with his sharp memory, quick wit and deep insight. He also displayed miraculous powers such as healing the sick, reviving the dead, controlling the elements and transforming objects.



Shripad Shri Vallabh was not interested in worldly pleasures or attachments. He renounced his family and wealth at the age of seven and took to the life of a wandering monk. He travelled across India and visited many holy places such as Varanasi, Prayag, Gaya, Kashi, Rameshwaram, Kanchipuram, Tirupati, Kurukshetra and Dwarka. He also visited Nepal and Tibet and spread his teachings among the people there. He performed many miracles and blessed countless devotees with his grace. He also initiated many disciples into his lineage and imparted them with the secret mantra of Dattatreya.







Shripad Shri Vallabh taught the essence of all scriptures and paths in a simple and practical way. He emphasized on the importance of devotion to Guru and God as the means to attain self-realization. He said that Guru is none other than God himself who manifests in human form to guide the seekers. He said that God is present in all beings and forms and can be worshipped in any name or form according to one's faith and inclination. He said that the ultimate goal of life is to realize one's true nature as the immortal soul which is beyond birth and death, pleasure and pain, bondage and liberation.



Shripad Shri Vallabh lived for thirty years on this earth and completed his divine mission. He predicted his departure from this world and instructed his disciples to continue his work. He also assured them that he would always be with them in spirit and would come back again in another incarnation as Shri Narasimha Saraswati. He then entered into samadhi at Kuravpur on the banks of river Krishna in Karnataka. His body disappeared into a banyan tree which still stands there as a witness to his glory.
